While there is no known cure for fibromyalgia, there are several fibromyalgia relaxation techniques that may help you get a good night’s sleep. CBD treatments might be one of the top aids to relaxation for stopping your symptoms of sleeplessness.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic health condition that causes many painful and debilitating symptoms, including muscle pain, headaches, brain fog, fatigue, and insomnia. Each treatment for fibromyalgia can have benefits and drawbacks. Treatments for the condition generally include medications, self-care strategies, and CBD supplements. CBD, or cannabidiol, is just one of dozens of compounds in the cannabis sativa plant. CBD comes from hemp with very low levels of THC, so it doesn’t get you high. Research and anecdotal evidence suggest that CBD can help relieve pain and alleviate insomnia and disrupted sleep patterns. Studies have shown CBD can relieve inflammation-related pain by interacting with neurotransmitters in our central nervous system. Another study found that cortisol levels significantly decreased when participants took up to 600mg of CBD oil. In this case, CBD could act as a sedative without the risk of addiction.

The hypothalamus, a peanut-sized structure buried deep in the brain, is enriched with cannabinoid receptors. It plays a significant role in sleep regulation and governs our circadian rhythm, our sleep-wake cycle. Another study in the Journal of Experimental Medicine found that CBD is effective for chronic pain in adults. It’s thought that CBD activates serotonin receptors that play a role in pain perception and reduce inflammation. However, more human research is needed.
